BRTC buses will ply on the much awaited elevated expressway from Monday (September 18). BRTC is starting this operation with 8 buses initially.

Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) Chairman Tajul Islam said that passengers can travel from both ends of the expressway for the time being. Southbound passengers can board the bus from Uttara Jasimuddin, Airport Railway Station and Kawla. And the buses will drop the passengers at Farm gate and take the passengers towards the airport.

Airport-bound passengers from Farm gate will be picked up at Bangabandhu Roundabout in Khejurbagan area of Sangsad Bhavan, adjacent to Manik Mia Avenue. Therefore, northbound passengers can board from Khejur Bagan Roundabout, Khamarbari or Vijay Sarani. In that case, the passengers sitting in the bus earlier will have to cross at least two traffic signals to get on the expressway, but for this the passengers will not have to add the additional fare fixed by BRTA.

Fare:

The fare for 15 km from Khejur Bagan to the airport is Tk. 35. And the fare for 17 km up to Jasimuddin has been fixed at Tk. 40. The fare is Tk. 2. 45 per kilometer. BRTC chairman Tajul Islam said that there is no opportunity to charge more fare due to e-ticketing system.

Incidentally, the Dhaka Elevated Expressway was opened for traffic on September 3. Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) that day Tajul Islam said, 79 buses will run through the elevated expressway. However, this organization of the government withdrew from this decision due to various complications.
