The US pre-election observer team will meet with Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party on the same day. Hotel Westin has been fixed for meetings with Awami League and Jatiya Party at Sheraton Hotel, Khaleda Zia's political office with BNP.
A delegation of the United States Pre-Election Observation Mission is now visiting Dhaka to assess the possibility of sending a full-fledged observer team to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. The delegation will hold a meeting with BNP leaders at 10:30 am on Monday (October 9). After that, the delegation will sit in a meeting with Awami League at Hotel Sheraton in Banani.
A meeting with the Jatiya Party leaders is scheduled at 3 pm. Presidium member Major Rana Mohammad Sohail (retd) MP and chairman's adviser Masroor Mawla will participate in the meeting on behalf of Jatiya Party.
Representatives of the pre-election survey mission consisting of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) arrived in Bangladesh on October 7. In addition to political parties, the Election Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, various institutions of the government, representatives of civil society will talk to the relevant representatives.
Discussions are also scheduled with local and international media organizations of Bangladesh and representatives of foreign embassies and high commissions working in Bangladesh.
