Another new door is going to open for South Bengal via Padma Bridge

On June 26 last year, the long-awaited Padma Bridge was opened to the traffic of South-Western region on the vast Padma river. Today is the day to fulfill another dream on that bridge. The official inauguration of the dream Padma bridge rail link project is now just waiting for hours.

The desired time is set for Tuesday (October 10) at 10 am. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially inaugurate the rail link through Padma bridge at Mawa railway station.

Commercial trains will start running a week after the inauguration. The railway authorities have already completed the initial steps of running the train experimentally.

The railway authorities said that initially the train will stop at three stations. These are Mawa, Padma (Jazira) and Shivchar. Besides, Nimtala station in Munshiganj will be opened soon.

In the meantime, all railway stations from Dhaka to Bhanga have been decorated colorfully. The venue, the inaugural train has been arranged. Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan visited Kamalapur-Gendaria-Bhanga Junction.

According to project sources, for now the train will run from Kamalapur station to Bhanga via Padma Bridge. For this, a special train has been prepared consisting of seven new coaches purchased from China.

If the entire railway is opened, the rail communication of the people of 21 districts of South-western region with Dhaka will be easier. As a result, the people concerned hope that the quality of life of the people of this region will improve. This new route will have a significant impact on the economy of the South –Western region.

It is to be noted that two intercity trains, Sunderban and Chitra on Khulna-Dhaka route through Padma Bridge, Benapole Express on Dhaka-Benapole route will change the current route and travel to Dhaka via Padma Bridge. Apart from this, international train Maitri Express on Dhaka-Kolkata route will also change its route and enter Dhaka via Padma Bridge.
