Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has claimed that as Awami League government is in power, free and fair elections are held in this country.

She said those who talk about voting today, talks about free, fair elections. It is because the Awami League government is coming to power, free and impartial elections are held in this country. And those who are depriving us of power every day by holding elections, they never want free and fair elections.

She said this while addressing as the chief guest at a gathering at the Mawa railway station premises at the inauguration of the Dhaka-Bhanga section of the Padma Bridge rail link project on Tuesday (October 10) at noon.

Commenting that only Awami League has worked to change the fate of people, the Prime Minister said, I will not allow anyone to play tricks with the fate of Bangalees. No one who was in power for last 29 years worked for fortune improvement.

The Prime Minister said that there were many conspiracies regarding the construction of Padma Bridge. A gentleman has made a name for himself around the world. But a small bank cannot hold the post of MD due to age. Because of saying that, the World Bank blocked the Padma Bridge money in his favor. That day I said that we will finance the Padma Bridge. InshaAllah we have done it. In his March 7 speech, Bangabandhu said, "No one can keep a Bangalee under control." No one can keep a Bangalee under control. Bangalees will remain united.

Sheikh Hasina said that in the next 3-4 years, railway communication will increase greatly; everything will be smart in smart Bangladesh. We will build a smart Bangladesh by 1941 that is our goal.

Pointing to BNP-Jamaat, she said, they never came to power without stealing votes. That is why the BNP-Jamaat 20 party alliance got only 29 out of 300 seats in 2008 elections. Since then they have been playing havoc with election boycott and playing with people's lives.
