'Economic development has touched every sector of the country'

Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam said that the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman life was taken by the conspirators' bullets when he engaged himself in the reconstruction of a war-torn country. The conspiracy has not stopped yet. When the economy of the country is improving under the leadership of his privileged daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the conspirators are raising their heads again.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at an agreement signing ceremony between Dhaka Wasa and Dhaka North City Corporation at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday (October 10) evening.

 The Local Government Minister said, today we have gathered here for the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Dhaka Wasa and Dhaka North City Corporation on waste management. This has been possible because we have reached an economically viable position to work on sound waste management. The minister expressed hope that as a result of such initiatives, people will get a chance to live in a beautiful environment along with the balance of the environment.

The Local Government Minister mentioned that today is a historic day for the people of the southern region in the communication system and said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has connected the southern region with Dhaka today through railway. Mentioning that projects like Metrorail, Expressway, Karnaphuli Tunnel, Padma Bridge will bring changes in the communication system of the country, the Local Government Minister said that when the communication system is improved, people's quality of life and economic improvement is achieved.

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam presided over the signing ceremony. Local Government Division Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim, Dhaka Wasa Managing Director Engineer Taksim A Khan, UNICEF Bangladesh Representative Sheldon Yate, Asian Development Bank Country Director Edimon Jinting were present as special guests of the event.
