Everything in the polling stations was orderly: Foreign Observers

The political environment at the polling stations was peaceful and the foreign observers who observed the 12th National Assembly elections commented that Bangladesh had a fair election.

They said that the election was completed according to the policy of Bangladesh.

The Russian foreign observer team said these in a press briefing at the Election Commission's temporary media center at Sonargaon Hotel after voting on Sunday (January 7).

In the briefing, the observers said, after observing the polling process, the observers in our team are in general agreement that the election of Bangladesh has been fair.

The Election Commission was able to conduct polling peacefully. The atmosphere at the polling stations and the overall political atmosphere was peaceful.

During the polling hours these observers visited different polling stations in the capital Dhaka.

The Election Commission (EC) approved 200 election observers and journalists for the 12th parliamentary elections. Of them, 127 were observers and 73 were from different media outlets. Besides, the EC approved 23,000 local election observers. Of them, 517 from 40 central observer organisations and 20,256 from 84 local observer organisations. All the observers monitored the polls during the voting time across the country.
