At least 18 heavyweight candidates who were in discussion in the field of politics have been caught in the 12th JS elections despite being in important party or parliamentary positions.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Workers Party Fazle Hossain Badsha lost to the independent candidate Principal Shafiqur Rahman Badsha in Rajshahi-2 Constituency with boat symbol.

Tangail-8

Krishak Sramik Janata League president Bangbir Quader Siddiqui (Bir Uttam) was defeated by Awami League nominated candidate Anupam Shahjahan in Tangail-8 (Sakhipur-Basail) constituency.

Madaripur-3

The influential leader of Awami League voted with the boat symbol in Madaripur-3 constituency Abdus Sobhan Golap. But at the end of the day he lost to individual candidate of the Eagle symbol Mst Tahmina Begum.

Pirojpur-2

Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Anwar Hossain Manju, who was elected last time with the boat symbol, lost to independent candidate Mohiuddin Maharaj in Pirojpur-2 seat.

Sylhet-6

Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, the Trinamool BNP candidate and party chairperson, lost in Sylhet-6 (Bianibazar and Golapganj) seats by a huge margin. Nurul Islam Nahid of the boat symbol won that seat.

Habiganj-4

State Minister for Aviation Mahbub Ali voted in the boat symbol in Habiganj-4 constituency. But he lost to the independent candidate Barrister Sayedul Haque Sumon by a big margin.

Manikganj-2

Vocalist Mumtaz Begum was defeated by independent candidate Zahid Hossain Tulu in Manikganj-2 seat.

Jashore-5

State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya lost to Yakub Ali, an independent candidate of Eagle symbol in Jessore-5 constituency.

Rangpur-1

Former Jatiya Party leader Mashiur Rahman Ranga was also defeated in Rangpur-1 seat. Awami League leader independent candidate Asaduzzaman won this seat. In the other, Independent candidate Golam Sarwar Tuku defeated five-time member of Parliament Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu with a boat symbol of Awami League.

In Pabna-1 Constituency, former Minister of State for Information Professor Abu Saeed lost to Deputy Speaker Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku.

Pirojpur-3

In Pirojpur-3 constituency, veteran MP Rustam Ali Faraji was defeated by independent candidate Shamim Shahnewaz and in Munshiganj-3 constituency, influential Awami League leader Mrinal Kanti Das was defeated by independent candidate Faisal Biplab. #
