12th JS Election: No candidate from 24 parties could win

The results of the 12th JS elections have been announced after the polling. 28 registered political parties participated in this election. Among them, candidates of only four parties won the election. No candidate of the remaining 24 parties was seen to win.

After the announcement of the results on Sunday (January 7) night, this information has been analyzed.

The winning parties are – Awami League, Jatiya Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Kalyan Party.

According to the Election Commission, out of the 28 parties participating in the 12th JS elections, Awami League contested in 266 seats, Jatiya Party contested in 265 seats, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD in 66 seats, Islami Oikyajot in 42 seats, Islami Front Bangladesh in 39 seats, Gano Forum in 9 seats, Krishak Sramik Janata League in 30 seats, Gano Front in 21 seats, Zaker Party in 21 seats, Jatiya Party-JP in 13 seats, Trinamool BNP in 135 seats, National People's Party (NPP) in 122 seats, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh in 10 seats, Bangladesh Islami Front in 37 seats, Bangladesh Congress in 96 seats. Bangladesh Kalyan Party in 16 seats, Bangladesh Khilafat Movement in 11 seats, Bangladesh Jatiya Party in 5 seats, Bangladesh Nationalist Movement-BNM in 56 seats, Bangladesh Tariqat Federation in 38 seats, Bangladesh National Awami Party-NAP in 5 seats, Bangladesh Nationalist Front in 45 seats, Bangladesh Muslim League fielded candidates in 4 seats, Supreme Party in 79 seats, Sankshtik Muktijote in 63 seats, Workers Party in 26 seats, Samyabadi Dal in 4 seats and Democratic Party in 10 seats.

Besides, 1971 candidates participated in the election including 436 independent candidates.

According to the results, 223 people from Awami League's boat symbol, 11 from Jatiya Party's plough, one from JSD's torch, one from Kalyan Party and 62 independents won. Accordingly, in the results of 298 constituencies, no candidate of the party symbols of 24 parties could win.
