Bangladesh Railway has announced that the advance sale of train tickets will start from March 24 ahead of the Eid holiday.
Director General of Railways (Additional Charge) Sardar Shahadat Ali informed the journalists about this decision at the inter-ministerial meeting in the conference room of the Rail Bhavan on Wednesday (March 13) afternoon.
He said that before Eid, April 3 ticket for intercity train will be sold on March 24, April 4 ticket on March 25, April 5 ticket on March 26, April 6 ticket on March 27, April 7 ticket on March 28, April 8 ticket on March 29 and April 9 ticket on March 30. Besides, 25% tickets will be available from the starting station before the start of the journey on the request of common passengers.
The Director General said that like last time, 100 percent of the train tickets will be sold online. But these tickets will be sold in two shifts. Tickets for Eastern trains will go on sale at 8 am and tickets for Western trains will go on sale at 2 pm. This Eid, the total number of seats in the intercity train departing from Dhaka will be 33 thousand 500.
Minister of Railways Jillul Hakim, Secretary Dr. Md. Humayun Kabbir and others also attended the press conference.
