Attack on student movement: 1695 arrested in 3195 cases

Dhaka: The police are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people in the new Bangladesh after the anti-discrimination student movement. So far, 1695 cases have been registered against the killers, those who ordered the killings and the attackers in the movement. Police said that 3195 people including 74 high profile people have been arrested in these cases.

This information was informed in a press release sent from the police headquarters on Sunday (October 13).

According to the police headquarters, 1 thousand 695 cases have been filed so far against those who attacked, incited and instructed the forces and anti- movement activists to brutally kill the students to suppress the anti-discrimination movement. Based on specific evidence of involvement in these crimes, 3 thousand 195 people, including 74 high profile people of the then government party, were arrested in the month of October. Action against them is ongoing.

Apart from this, in the past, those who were involved in various types of misdeeds including extortion, tender bidding, terrorist activities under the umbrella of political parties have also been prosecuted, arrested and legal action has been taken, which is ongoing.

The police headquarters also said that police services will be harassment-free and people-friendly. Bangladesh Police will ensure that no one is subjected to undue harassment. The anti-discrimination movement is an epoch-making milestone in building a non-discrimination society and ensuring all human rights, which has opened the door to immense possibilities for all. In this march, the police are determined to work as a constant charioteer with the students and general public to build the desired Bangladesh.
