An attack on the police took place in the Islampur area of Kotwali police station in Old Dhaka of the capital. A few policemen including the officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station were injured. Army is working to control the situation.
The incident happened on Sunday (October 13) around 10:30 pm. This information was confirmed by the OC of Kotwali Police Station Enamul Hassan at 12:45 PM.
He told Barta24.com on his mobile phone that after Durga Puja, the people who had come to sacrifice the idols were returning by truck. On the way back, there was a complaint that a brick was thrown from the roof of a building at Islampur Patuatuli junction. Somen, a local businessman called me about the incident. In no time I and my Inspector (Investigation) of the police station went to the spot. People in the truck complained that bricks were thrown from the roof of the building. After receiving the complaint, I trid to take immediate action. Meanwhile some people attacked us. I was hurt by it. Several other on-duty policemen were injured.
When asked about the latest situation, the OC said that the army is currently working to control the situation. I am injured and am going to the hospital for treatment.
