Goddess Durga returned to her husband's home in Kailas after leaving her mortals with joy and happiness for four days.

On Sunday (October 12) afternoon, the idol burial began at Wiseghat in the capital. Devotees from different parts of Dhaka started gathering at this ghat to worship the goddess idol.

It can be seen on the surface, the devotees are coming to the ghat in trucks and pickups, dancing and singing to the rhythm of Dhaka. After that, the idol is being taken to Buriganga for disposal with the help of law enforcement agencies. The ghat area has been cordoned off with heavy security.

In this regard, Rajat Kumar, a member of the Central Puja Celebration Committee, said that the immersion of idols started from 12 noon. The Central Puja Visarjan rally may arrive here at 6:30 pm. After that, he expected the vigil to continue till 1 am.

Expressing satisfaction with the security management, he said that the police, naval police and army members are working for security here. Drones have been deployed by the army. All ships, bulkheads and trawlers have been stopped in the river. Naval police patrolling the river area also the entire river is illuminated with flashlights. A diver is also placed in each dive boat. All preparations are in place to avoid any untoward incident. Security measures are commendable this time as compared to any other time.

According to the Sanatan Dharma followers, this year the Goddess came to Dolai and returned to Kailasa in Ghotka. There was no dearth of enthusiasm and joy of the devotees around the arrival and departure of the goddess for the past few days. However, on the day of farewell, the fans' hearts were full of sadness and tears in their eyes. They believe that Devi Durga leaves Kailash every autumn and comes to mortal world as a daughter. Between her 'arrival and departure', the festival lasts for five days from the sixth to the tenth tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashwin.
