The trial of the BDR case will be shifted from the Bakshibazar temporary court to the temporary court inside Keraniganj prison from Thursday (January 9).

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday (January 8).

It is said that the building built in the field adjacent to the Government Alia Madrasa and Dhaka Central Jail in the Bakshibazar area of Dhaka metropolis has been converted into a temporary court to conduct the trial of the case filed against those involved in the BDR massacre that took place at the BDR headquarters in Peelkhana, Dhaka.

However, due to extensive vandalism and damage to the temporary court building during the student-public movement in July-August and subsequent obstruction by the students, it is not possible to conduct the trial in the temporary court building.

As a result, it is almost impossible to transport the accused and ensure their security. Since the accused are being held in the Keraniganj Central Jail, conducting the trial in the temporary court built in the said jail will remove the difficulty of transporting the accused and ensure their security.
