A video of an SI accepting bribe from a service seeker who came to provide documents required for police clearance inside Natore Sadar Police Station went viral. After that, the accused Sub-Inspector (SI) named Aminul Islam was withdrawn (closed) from Sadar Police Station and attached to Natore Police Lines.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Saturday (January 18) night. The video of taking bribes went viral on social media on Saturday evening.
The one-minute and 20-second video, recorded last Thursday (January 16), shows a service seeker who came to provide documents for police clearance giving a bribe to Sub-Inspector of Sadar Police Station Aminul Islam on the pretext of shaking hands. Later, Aminul kept it in a drawer. This video was recorded by a victim named Mamun Hossain.
Mamun Hossain said that last Thursday, he came to the police station to submit the necessary documents for the recent police clearance on behalf of his acquaintance Mobarak Hossain. At that time, Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam, the officer in charge of the clearance, demanded a bribe from him inside the police station. At that time, he recorded a video of accepting a bribe from another applicant. Later, when he demanded a bribe from him again, he protested and left the police station.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Shariful Islam said that initially he (SI Aminul) was withdrawn from Sadar Police Station and attached to Natore Police Lines. This has started the process, which will continue.
