We have fulfilled the reasonable demands of the railway employees as much as possible. Still, why are they protesting, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has questioned.

He said this while talking to reporters after the meeting of the Advisery Committee on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Tuesday (January 28).

The Finance Adviser said that we have done as much as is necessary for the railway employees for humanitarian reasons. The overtime issue has been resolved. It is not possible to meet the demands beyond this. The economic situation of the country has to be considered.

He also said that no decision has been made to give dearness allowance to government employees. However, no decision has been made yet on whether it will be given or not. The decision to increase the allowance of those in foreign missions was made long ago. He also said that rice and wheat stocks will be ensured so that there is no shortage during Ramadan.
