Dhaka: As a result, the holy month of Rajab will complete 30 days tomorrow, Friday, January 31, and the holy month of Shaban will be counted from Saturday, February 1. In view of this, the holy Shab-e-Barat will be celebrated on the night of Friday, February 14.
This decision was taken at the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation Baitul Mukarram meeting room on Thursday (January 30) evening. It was presided over by the Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain.
The meeting reviewed the information received from all district administrations, the head office of the Islamic Foundation, divisional and district offices, Bangladesh Meteorological Department and the Space Research and Remote Sensing Institute regarding the sighting of the moon of the holy month of Shaban of 1446 Hijri, and it was found that today is 29 Rajab 1446 Hijri, 16 Magh 1431 Bangabhab, 30 January 2025 AD. The moon of the holy month of Shaban was not sighted anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh on Thursday evening. In this situation, tomorrow, 17 Magh 1431 Bangabada, 31 January 2025 AD. Friday, the holy month of Rajab will complete 30 days. The holy month of Shaban of 1446 Hijri year will begin counting from Saturday, 18 Magh 1431 Bangab, 1 February 2025 AD.
