All unequal agreements with India will be discussed: Home Affairs Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that all kinds of unequal agreements with India during the Awami League government will be discussed.
He said this at a press conference on the border conference at the BGB-BSF Director General level in the meeting room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat on Wednesday (January 29).
He said that the BGB-BSF Director General level meeting will give utmost importance to restoring trust between India and Bangladesh.
He also said that various issues including stopping killings on the border, carrying out barbed wire fences or any construction work within 150 yards of the border line in accordance with the rules, and not publishing false news about Bangladesh in the Indian media will be discussed.
Apart from this, Jahangir Alam said that a proposal will be made to withdraw water from the common rivers and stop waste management from India in the Feni region of Bangladesh.
The Director General-level conference between the border guard forces of the two countries, BGB and BSF, will be held in New Delhi, India from February 17 to 20.
It is worth noting that India has constructed a barbed wire fence on 3,271 kilometers of the 4,156-kilometer border between Bangladesh and India.
Recently, a tense situation arose between the border guard forces of the two countries and the local people over India's construction of a fence in some parts of the border.
