The Faridpur district administration has decided to set up an exclusive English version school for developing the capability of the young children about the language which has become very much necessary to compete in this changing modern world.
A meeting to this end was held on Sunday (May 26) in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Faridpur. The meeting was chaired by DC of Faridpur Ommey Salma Tanzia. It was attended by government officials, educationists, social activists, Ngo men and business men.
In her introductory speech DC Ommey Salma Tanzia stressing the need for establishing such a school said that it is the demand of the hour to cater to the needs of the modern day competitive world in general as well as the country in particular.
She said that English is such a language that we cannot face the challenges of the modern day world with the pace of development the country is attaining gradually. But unfortunately in this language we are in very disgraceful position as depicted in the various admission test results of the higher educational institutions of the country. The admission test results depict a very sorry state of English language proficiency which determines the quality of the students, she said.
She said that after much deliberation with a cross section of people of this district she has decided to set up an English version school in this town directed by the local district administration. He hoped that this school would help the students to enrich their proficiency in English language helping them to face any challenges to come in future.
She disclosed that there is an old but strong structure owned by district administration in the Jheeltuly area of this town. She likes that the school would roll on from the next academic session beginning from January 1, 2020. Initially the school will have the provision of teaching up to class VIII where every thing will be taught in English language. The admission will be done on merit basis. However there will be provisions of learning free of cost for the poor but meritorious students. The renovation and reconstruction work of the proposed school building would start soon, she added
In the meeting the DC showed the sketch design of the proposed school building and also the proposed logo of the school. It would be implemented after necessary modifications as suggested by the participants in the meeting.
She sought the cooperation of all to help build this school in a smooth way for the greater interests of the society.
Later on the participants taking part in the open discussion put forwarded their opinions and whole heartedly supported the scheme to start an English version school. They would also cooperate with the district administration including the financial assistance.
