The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lodged a case against deputy inspector general (prisons) of Sylhet division on charges of money laundering and keeping money from unknown source of income.
ACC Assistant Director Salauddin Ahmed filed the case against Partha Gopal Banik with the commission, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, public relations officer of ACC.
Partha Gopal will be produced before a Dhaka court soon, he said.
The ACC detained the DIG (prisons) of Sylhet division after recovering Tk 80 lakh from his Dhanmondi residence in Dhaka.
Earlier, ACC Director Mohammad Yousuf quizzed Partha over allegations that he committed irregularities and corruption as DIG (prisons) of Chattogram division. The interrogation continued at ACC headquarters for about four hours.
