President M. Abdul Hamid on Sunday expressed profound shock at the death of veteran politician and state minister for religious affairs Alhaj Advocate Sheikh Md. Abdullah.
His (Sheikh Abdullah) death is an irreparable loss to the national politics of Bangladesh, he said in a condolence message.
Recalling Advocate Sheikh Md Abdullah’s outstanding contribution to country’s political arena with due respect, the president said at his death nation lost a tested politician. He also recalled the contribution of the valiant freedom fighter in the Liberation War of 1971.
The Head of the state prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Sheikh Abdullah, also Religious Affairs Secretary of Awami League, died of old age complications at the Combined Military Hospital(CMH) in Dhaka last night. He was 75.
