Areas included in the Red Zone to contain Covid-19

The Central Technical Committee for Corona Prevention has identified two city corporations in Dhaka, several wards of Chittagong City Corporation and different areas of the three districts as red zones based on the number of infected in the ongoing corona situation.

These areas were identified as red zones at a meeting of the technical committee chaired by Abul Kalam Azad, director general of the health directorate held on Saturday (June 13). This information has been known from a minutes of the meeting. According to the decision of the meeting, the district deputy commissioner, civil surgeon and police super will jointly identify these zones as red zones.

It is learned that a total of 45 areas of DNCC and DSCC of the capital have been identified as 'Red Zones'. Of these, DNCC has 17 areas and 28 areas in DSCC. Again 11 areas of Chittagong City Corporation area have also been identified as ‘Red Zones’. Outside Dhaka, several upazillas of Narsingdi, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts have been identified as red zones. The two cities of Dhaka and the areas of Chittagong where 60 people per one lakh population were infected in last 14 days have been identified as red zones. Outside Dhaka this ratio is 10 lakhs.

Areas marked as Red Zone of Dhaka North City:

The 17 areas of North City Corporation that have been identified as Red Zones are: Bashundhara, Badda, Cantonment, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Rampura, Aftabnagar, Mohammadpur, Kalyanpur, Gulshan, Magbazar, Airport, Banasree, Rayerbazar and Rajabazar.

Areas marked as Red Zone of Dhaka South City:

The 28 areas of the Southern City include: Jatrabari, Demra, Mugda, Gandaria, Dhanmondi, Jigatla, Lalbagh, Azimpur, Bashabo, Shantinagar, Paltan, Kalabagan, Ramna, Sutrapur, Malibagh, Kotwali, Tikatuli, Mitford, Shahjahanpur, Paribagh, Kadamtali, Siddheswari, Laxmibazar, Elephant Road and Segunbagicha.

Areas marked as Red Zone of Chittagong City:

11 areas of Chittagong City have been placed in the red zone. These are: Ward No. 37 and 38 in Chittagong Port, Ward No. 39 in Patenga, Ward No. 10 in Pahartali, Ward No. 18, 20, 21 and 22 in Kotwali, Ward No. 14 in Khulshi and Ward No. 26 in Halishahar.

Besides, all the upazillas of Gazipur among the three districts outside Dhaka have been brought under the red zone. Araihazar, Rupganj, Sadar and the entire city area of Narayanganj district have been identified as red zones.

Asked about this, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told Barta24.com that the Central Technical Committee formed to prevent corona has identified some more areas in the red zone. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Administration will issue a notification declaring a general holiday in those areas. The Ministry of Home Affairs will take measure on their behalf. Arrangements will be made to provide all the necessary items including food to the residents of those areas. Step by step lockdown will be enforced.
