Investors eye on the ‘rotten’ banks’ share
Dhaka,(Barta24.com): In the month of share price fall (March) the cunning investors’ eagles eye were on the ‘rotten’ banks’ share. Top ten companies have come up on the peak of share trade due to the impact.
Shares of thirty banks enlisted in the stock market numbering 52 crores 62 lakhs 97 thousand 427 shares worth Taka 1 thousand 465 crores 9 lakh 40 thousand 474 were traded which is 15.60 percent of the total trade of Dhaka Stock Exchange(DSE).
One time known as the life line of the stock market, the merchant banks are now called by the investors as ‘rotten’. Because the price of each share of at least 8-10 banks is either the same or below the face value.
According to DSE sources, in the 19 working days of March shares worth Taka 9391 thousand crores 78 lakhs were traded. Of the total amount the shares worth Taka 1465 thousand crores were traded of the banking sector.
Next the top place of the trade is occupied by the engineering sector. 15 crore 63 lakh 61160 number of shares worth Taka 1322 crores 41 lahs 12432 were traded of this sector which is 14.08 percent of the total traded shares.
The third place was occupied by power and energy sector. Shares numbering 8 crores 60 lakhs 97307 worth Taka 1062 crores 22 lakhs 16 thousand 446 which is 11.31 percent of the total trade of DSE.
Less than Taka one thousand crores were traded in the textile sector. Taka 918 croes 26 lakhs 47 thousand 298 value of 30 crores 43 lakhs 5704 shares were traded which is 9.78 percent of the traded shares occupying fourth place.
The fifth place went to medicine and chemical sector. An amount of Taka 903 crores 61 lakhs 94 thousand 100 were traded.
Among all other sectors the percentage of Insurance sector is 6.76 percent, food sectors’ share trade is 6.44 percent, ceramic sector shares’ position is 5.43 percent and the rest 22 percent were traded in 12 sectors.
