Tk. 34, 0266 crore allocated for 7 mega projects in the proposed budget

In the fiscal year 2020-2021, a total allocation of Taka 34,026 crore has been earmarked for 7 mega projects in the proposed budget. The Rooppur nuclear power plant will be getting the highest allocation. Tk. 15,691 crore has been allocated for this mega project and Tk. 5,000 crore has been allocated for the Padma Bridge.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presented the 49th Budget of Bangladesh on Thursday (June 11) at 3.18 pm in the Jatiyo Sangsad under the title 'Economic Transition and Future Roadmap'. This is his second budget as finance minister.

In the budget for the new fiscal Metrorail has been allocated Tk. 4,370 crore, Padma Bridge rail link Tk. 3,685 crore, Maheshkhali Matarbari coal-fired thermal power plant Tk. 3,670 crore, Dohazari-Ramu-Cox's Bazar railway line Tk. 1,500 crore and Payara deep seaport Tk. 350 crore. .

This is the 49th budget proposal of the country, the 20th budget of the Awami League government and the second budget proposal of the present finance minister. This is the biggest budget in the history of the country.

Of the Tk. 5 lakh 68 thousand crore rupees allocated for the corona devastated people and economy of the country, the operating expenditure has been estimated at Tk. 3 lakh 48 thousand 180 crore rupees. Of this, development expenditure has been estimated at Tk. 2 lakh 15 thousand 43 crore while in the development head has been proposed Tk. 2 lakh 5 thousand 145 crore.
