Biden terms Hamas as ‘bloodthirsty’
US President Joe Biden called Hamas, the armed group of the Palestinian liberation movement, as bloodthirsty. He also commented that Israel has the responsibility and the right to respond to the terror of Hamas.
He said this in his address to the nation on Tuesday (October 10) US local time. Reiterating the support of the United States to Israel at this time, he said that the United States will provide everything that Israel needs.
Joe Biden strongly condemned the killing of more than a thousand Israeli civilians in an unprecedented attack by the Palestinian armed group Hamas inside Israel. He mentioned that at least 14 of the dead are American citizens.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the dead or missing US citizens.
Pointing out that there is no justification for the rampage of Hamas, he said, this attack by Hamas reminds of the worst atrocities of the terrorist group IS (Islamic State).
Biden said Hamas did not stand up for the Palestinian people. They are using the Palestinian people as human shields.
Expressing sorrow for the Jewish community, the US president said it is not new. The incident brought to the fore painful memories of anti-Semitism that has persisted throughout the past century.
