Israel has killed 300 Gazans in the last 24 hours
At least 300 people were killed in the Israeli attack on Gaza yesterday Saturday (October 14), the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
According to the news agency Reuters citing the Ministry of Health of Palestine, 300 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.
The country's health ministry said most of the victims were children and women.
In addition, another 800 Palestinians were injured in one day. Many of them are in serious condition.
Incidentally, Hamas-Israeli counter-attacks started when Hamas suddenly launched rocket attacks from Gaza early Saturday morning last week.
At least 2,200 people in Gaza have been killed in Israeli attacks so far. At least 1,300 Israelis have been killed in Hamas attacks. No attack has killed so many Israelis in at least 50 years of history.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday (October 14), "Washington is working with the United Nations and Middle East countries to ensure water, food and medical care for innocent civilians."
NDTV reported that the two leaders spoke in a phone call after the enclave was cut off from electricity, food and water following the Israeli blockade of Gaza for a ground offensive against the Hamas group.
"President Biden reaffirmed his support for all efforts to protect civilians," the White House said in a statement about the phone call between the two leaders.
"President Biden discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu U.S. coordination with the United Nations, Egypt, Jordan, Israel and others in the region to ensure innocent civilians have access to water, food and medical care," the White House said.
"Biden also spoke with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday (October 14) and emphasized the dignity and right of Palestinians to self-determination," the White House said.
"Hamas does not stand for the dignity and right of the Palestinian people to self-determination," Biden told Abbas, according to a White House statement on the conversation between the two leaders.
In the phone call, Biden pledged full support to the Palestinian Authority in its efforts to reach humanitarian aid, particularly to Palestinians in Gaza.
"President Biden has offered his full support to President Abbas and the Palestinian Authority for this important and ongoing effort," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the United Nations refugee agency for the Palestinians said water is now a matter of life and death for people in the Gaza Strip after Israel cut off water supplies.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said on Saturday (October 14) that more than two million people are now at extreme risk as water runs out.
"It has become a matter of life and death," said UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini. It is imperative that electricity be supplied to Gaza now to provide water for two million people.'
No humanitarian supplies have been allowed into Gaza for a week, the agency said.
