A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Los Angeles, USA. The earthquake was felt as far away as San Diego on the US-Mexico border. However, no major damage or injuries were immediately reported.

The US Geological Survey reported on Monday (August 12). The epicenter of the felt earthquake was near the Los Angeles area of Highland Park, about 6.5 miles northeast of Los Angeles City Hall and about 7.5 miles below the surface.

The quake was felt from greater Los Angeles south to San Diego and east to the Palm Springs desert region, according to the USGS Community Reporting page.

Less than a week after a magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Southern California, Los Angeles was also felt. There was no damage in that earthquake either.
