Massive vandalism in RG Kar Hospital, tear gas and baton used to stop
A heated situation is prevailing at RG Kar Hospital amid the ''Night Occupy'' program of girls in the city of Kolkata at midnight. There have been allegations of breaking the gate of the emergency department of the hospital and trying to enter. The police went to the spot after receiving the information. But it is not clear who did the vandalism.
This information was published in a report of Aztak Bangla on Thursday (August 15).
According to the report, women took to the streets at midnight today in various districts including Kolkata to protest against the RG Kar case. The program was named 'Girls' Night Occupy'. At that time, it was alleged that the agitated crowd broke the police barricade of the hospital and entered the hospital premises and vandalized the police vehicle. Protesters' stage in front of RG Kar Hospital was also demolished.
According to the report, the outsiders had sticks, rods and stones in their hands. The glass of several wards was broken by stone pelting. Besides, the police car was also overturned. During this time, some policemen were injured. However, the police have already surrounded the entire area to control the situation. Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed. Tear gas was also fired.
Trinamool leader Shantanu Sen condemned this incident. He said, what happened is very condemnable. We all want the guilty to be punished in the RG Kar case. But if a patient has to go back in the name of movement, it is never desirable. Again, this kind of vandalism cannot be accepted.
Incidentally, protests have spread across India after the rape and murder of a doctor of RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal, India. The protestors announced to hold this protest program called 'Girls Occupy Night' across India. Demonstrations have already started in various provinces of India in support of this movement.
