The 9th Ayurveda Day-2024 was celebrated in Dhaka by giving importance to preventive treatment out of the trend of remedial treatment.

The event was organized by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center of the Indian High Commission on Tuesday (29 October 2024) at the Indian Cultural Center in Gulshan in the capital. The theme for Ayurveda Day 2024 was “Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health”.

The program brought together Ayurveda experts, practitioners, students, representatives from the pharmaceuticals sector, and eminent members of the Bangladeshi civil society.


Addressing the gathering, the Acting High Commissioner of India Pawan Badhe conveyed that India remains committed to working closely with Bangladesh to enhance cooperation in the field of Ayurveda and other traditional medicines.

He emphasiszed the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field of traditional medicines.

Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Professor, Department of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka, Mokhlesur Rahman, Chief Researcher, Ayurvedic Research Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders, Dhaka, Mohammad Jamal Uddin, Deputy Managing Director, Hamdard Bangladesh Foundation And the academic chair of Hamdard University established under the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India Munawar Hussain Kazmi shares his views on the current relevance of Ayurveda. IGCC Director and First Secretary (Political & Cultural) Ann Mary George presided over the function. 


The meeting was followed by a live musical performance by renowned sitar player Ebadul Huq Shaikat. A number of stalls exhibiting various ayurvedic products and services available in Bangladesh was another interesting aspect of the evening.
