The proverb ‘one doth the scathe and another hath the scorn’ seems to be closely associated with the Minister of Health. Lockdown announcement again lifting the lockdown again. Garments closed, Garments open again. Stopping the buses to tell the workers to come. Mass vaccination activities started again and stopped.

On the other hand, he has to take the responsibility of creating confusion in the minds of the people as various ministers, state ministers and officials have spoken out. A few days ago, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozzamel Haque had said that after August 11, citizens above 18 years of age would be punished if they went out without a vaccine card. However, he withdrew his statement the next day expressing regret.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek has to be held accountable for all these issues. At a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare held at the Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday (August 26), the parliamentary committee sought an answer from the minister on the recent developments.

It is learned that the minister expressed a lot of helplessness at that time. "I don't know much about what happened," the minister said in response to a statement from committee members. I don't really understand how it is happening. Many things are out of my control, the minister admits.

"There are a lot of decisions that I don't know about," the minister said at the meeting. The health minister could not give any answer when the members raised the issue of opening the garments. At that time, the president of the committee said, "We are insulted by the suffering of the people." People insult the government. The president advised to be more careful about it.

During the meeting, committee president Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said, "The Ministry of Health will talk about the Ministry of Health." Everyone present agreed. "No one else will talk about the health ministry," he said. Others can give advice but others cannot run the ministry. '

After the meeting, committee member Muhibur Rahman Manik told Barta24.com that the health minister is running his ministry. But sometimes the minister has expressed a little helplessness as others are creating confusions.

According to the information obtained from the working paper of the last 10th meeting, all the members present at the meeting were angry with the Health Minister. The Minister for Health and Family Welfare was not present at the last meeting. So in the 11th meeting everyone got the minister and repeated the previous words.

Committee president Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said, "Although the government and the private sector were supposed to import 50 per cent of the AstraZeneca vaccine, there was no success." Why is it being considered to prepare vaccines in the private sector despite the existence of EDCL, a government pharmaceutical company in Gopalganj district? It was announced before the arrival of the vaccine that 7 crore vaccines were coming and it was later found that it did not come.

The president further said that all the people who have been registered for vaccination have been announced to go to the villages without vaccination and be given mass vaccination. Why is that? He advised to inform the public through an official who is specifically responsible for vaccinating as many people as possible according to the import.

The president said it was possible to get an accurate picture of the corona situation if more and more samples were tested. He described the earlier announcement of the corona vaccine as "embarrassing" for the government. Thousands of people are being harassed, he said, adding that such misinformation about the vaccine should not be made public. It also advises those who have registered to provide the vaccine on a priority basis.

Former health minister AFM Ruhul Haque, a member of the committee, said information on how much vaccine would be given did not reach the people of the village in time. Request to inform the public through the media about the number of people to be vaccinated in an area. Also request to ensure regular briefing on corona situation by a minister or an official responsible for eliminating all kinds of confusion.

Committee member Dr. Abdul Aziz said those who oppose the government have tried to convince people that the city is giving good vaccines and the villagers are being given bad vaccines because they have not made it clear to the people why the Sinopharm vaccine was given in the villages and Modena in the city corporation area. There needed to be a clear explanation from the Ministry of Health in this regard. He also said that it was embarrassing for the government to announce the mass vaccination without calculating the number of the people in the area.

He added that most of the students are suffering from mental depression as they are sitting at home for a long time. He recommended that in the interest of keeping the educational activities of the country active, starting from University students to 12-year-old school going students should be brought under the vaccine program.

Muhibur Rahman Manik said that the people at the field level are not getting the vaccine as promised by the authorities, which has created confusion in the minds of the people. He recommended giving a briefing to the media through a spokesperson specifying the correct information about the coronavirus.

Committee member Syeda Zakia Noor said there was a growing awareness among the people about the vaccine, so she did not know how many people would be vaccinated in how many days. Also wanted to know what the current situation of corona was. The imposing of the lockdown under different names has created mistrust among the people. Therefore, request to inform the lockdown with a special name.

In response to these statements, the Senior Secretary (Department of Health Services) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that an agreement has been reached with all the vaccine producing countries in the world on the basis of G2G to import adequate vaccines. A final proposal has been sent to Russia to import Sputnik V, but so far no progress has been made. Moreover, a total of 3 crore 10 lakh 15 thousand 510 doses of vaccine have been imported in the country so far, at a cost of TK. 2 crore 4 lakh 9 thousand 910 doses. And now we have 1 crore 1 lakh 25 thousand 10 doses. On the other hand, there is no difference in the quality of vaccines coming in the name of different companies, said the secretary.

The meeting was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim. Dr. Ruhul Haque, Muhibur Rahman Manik, Md. Mansur Rahman, Md. Abdul Aziz, Syeda Zakia Nur, Rahgir Almahi Ershad and Md. Amirul Alam Milon attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the development of Covid-19 vaccine by the Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute Bill, 2021 and the Gopalganj branch of EDCL.

It was recommended to raise the issue of 'Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute Bill, 2021' in the Jatiyo Sangsad with necessary amendments.

Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that human rights in our country are better than many countries. No country in the world has human rights in an ideal position.

He said that all countries should work together for the development of human rights. We also want to work with our development partners to promote human rights.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Baisakhi Utsav 1431' program organized jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Foreign Office Spouses Association at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Friday (May 10) evening.

He said that in the United States, we are seeing the way the police are suppressing the movement of students in favor of the Palestinians on the TV screen. We also see how the police are suppressing civil movements on behalf of the Palestinians in various European countries.

Asked about US President Joe Biden's nomination of David Slayton Mill as the new US ambassador to Bangladesh, Minister Hasan welcomed the nomination. He expressed hope that the new ambassador will further advance the cooperation of the United States with Bangladesh.

The foreign minister said, 'Secularism is the main driving force of our nation and the Pohela Boishakh festival is a symbol of secularism. Bangladesh was born in 1971 after breaking the communal state system of Pakistan with the aim of building a non-communal state under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu. And under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Pahela Baishakh festival, which became a universal festival regardless of caste and religion, is today the embodiment of our secularism.

Dr. Hasan said, 'Awami League, which led the war of independence, believes that our first identity is that we are Bengalis, and the second identity is who we are and what religion we belong to. And Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina's mantra-religion is for individuals, the festival is for everyone. That is why people of all religions unite in Bangladesh today on Eid, Puja, Prabarana Purnima festivals.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Dr. AK Abdul Momen and Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen addressed the event.

Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shahriar Alam, ambassadors, High Commissioners and members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Office Spouses Association (FOSA) attended the event and enjoyed the interesting cultural performance of FOSA artists.
