Schedule on Wednesday evening, the polling in the first week of January
The schedule for the 12th Jatiyo Sangsad (JS) elections is likely to be announced on Wednesday. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal can announce this in the evening in his address to the nation after the commission meeting in the afternoon.
According to the sources of EC, EC is planning for three dates of 3rd, 6th and 9th of January as polling dates. Among them, January 6 is more likely to be the date of polling which will be finalized by announcing the schedule.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday (November 14), Secretary Jahangir Alam told reporters in his own office, "When and how the schedule will be announced, I will inform you at 10 am on Wednesday." I have not received any notice of the commission meeting so far. I can tell you when and what will happen on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the security system around the election building has been strengthened in the center of the announcement of the schedule.
Security forces have been on high alert in the area around the election hall since Tuesday morning amid the announcement of the schedule which was not there before. Besides, everyone has to pass the police interrogation in front of the gate even if they enter the election commission building. Later in the evening, law enforcement presence was increased around the building.
Meanwhile, the EC published the final voter list for the 12th parliamentary elections. It can be seen that the current total voters in the country are 11 crore 96 lakh 91 thousand 633 people. According to the information given by EC, among the total voters, male voters are 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 and female voters are 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 people. And 852 are Hijra voters. About 1 million polling officers will be appointed to organize the upcoming 12th general elections.
