All types of cargo transportation by passenger vessels will be closed for 10 days before and after Eid to ensure smooth travel during Eid. At the same time, goods cannot be transported by any passenger boat coming to Sadarghat from other parts of the country.
This decision was taken in a meeting held on Wednesday (March 13) in the meeting room of the Ministry of Shipping on matters of navigation and safety of passengers during the Eid journey.
According to the decision of the meeting, all types of goods transportation from Sadarghat of the capital will be stopped for five days before Eid and five days after. However, during this time, motorcycles can be transported at a separate fare as determined by BIWTA. During this time, all types of speedboats will be closed on the waterway at night.
Meanwhile, from April 4 to April 16, all types of sand-bearing bulkhead movement have been directed to be completely stopped. Moreover, instructions have been given to issue tickets by looking at the national identity card of the passengers at the launch.
Normal truck and covered van ferries will be closed for three days before and three days after Eid, except for trucks carrying essential and perishable goods. During this time, fishing nets are prohibited in the river to ensure normal movement of launches.
