The Interim government led by Dr. Yunus has announced strict legal action against any hate speech and attack against religious and cultural places and Sufi shrines.

According to the notification, a group of miscreants have been attacking Sufi shrines and shrines in the country for the past few days, which has come to the attention of the government. The Interim Government strongly condemns any hate speech and attacks on religious and cultural sites and Sufi shrines.

The press wing also said that the government is working to bring the rogue forces involved in these attacks to justice and take strict legal action against them.

It said law enforcement agencies have been directed to take adequate measures to protect religious places and cultural sites.

Noting that Bangladesh has been a country of communal harmony and peaceful co-existence of all faiths for thousands of years, the circular added, 'We state in no uncertain terms that we will remain a country of harmony and any attempt to disrupt religious or cultural tolerance and harmony will be dealt with sternly without any discrimination.

After the mass uprising of the students, the editors' council has issued a statement in protest against the murder cases filed against the journalists of various media outlets in the country.

On Saturday (September 14), President Mahfuz Anam and General Secretary Dewan Hanif Mahmud gave this statement.

According to the statement, the case of murder against journalists based on allegations of dumping is still continuing. Such cases involve misuse of existing laws. At the same time, they also think that it is a violation of the committment of independent journalism of the interim government.

Besides, the editors demanded punishment through the Press Council Act for those journalists who supported injustice during the previous government. Those journalists have also been demanded to be prosecuted under the existing law based on the recommendations of the Press Council in respect of other offences.

At the same time, the editors' council called for the quick release of the accused journalists from these cases if no involvement is found in the cases in which the names of the journalists are included.

With the right economic reforms, US trade and investment assistance to the private sector will increase to unlock development potential in Bangladesh.

This was stated in a meeting with the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AMCHAM) leaders of the US delegation visiting Dhaka at a hotel in the capital on Saturday (September 14).

After the meeting, the US Embassy in Dhaka said in a message that US businesses are playing a positive role in various sectors of Bangladesh's economy, from energy security to data centers and transportation. If the right economic reforms are done, the American private sector can help open the door to Bangladesh's development potential through trade and investment.

Earlier, a six-member delegation led by US Department of Revenue and Finance's Assistant Undersecretary for International Finance Brent Neyman arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning for a three-day visit. Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs of the US State Department, came in the afternoon.

The visit will focus on the urgent needs of the Interim government of Bangladesh and how the United States can support economic cooperation and reforms in the future of the two countries' relationship.

According to diplomatic sources in Dhaka and Washington, Bangladesh is on the verge of transition from the political crisis. There is a great opportunity to move forward with the reform process under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Along with this, during the tenure of the current government of Bangladesh, the way to advance the relationship between the two countries has been opened. As a result, the United States is interested in extending cooperation in economic and democratic reforms wherever there is an opportunity for cooperation. 

Dhaka: Qazi Salahuddin will not compete in the upcoming Bangladesh Football Federation elections. He said this in a press conference today.

A few days ago, however, he announced that he would contest the October 26 election. This time, he withdrew from his decision to become the four-time BFF president.

He said in the press conference today, 'I will not participate in the October 26 election. I have officially informed you of my personal decision.
