Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "Those who are protesting are my brothers, who will we be harsh on? We don't want to be harsh like the previous government in suppressing the recent student movement. We will try to resolve them through discussions."

He said this while visiting Matian Haor in Tahirpur Upazila of Sunamganj on Tuesday (November 26) afternoon.

He said, the college problems need to be resolved through discussions. For this, our teachers are there. There is no need for anyone to take to the streets. They can come to Suhrawardy Udyan without blocking the road and make demands, their representatives can go and discuss the problems with us. Student representatives can discuss the problems of various colleges among themselves. We don't want to suppress the student brothers by being harsh. We are trying to resolve the problems peacefully through discussions. We want them not to hold violent protests on the streets with their demands.

Regarding haor agriculture, he said, it is a matter of seeing whether farmers are benefiting from agricultural products or not. It is also necessary to ensure that no middlemen can take advantage.

He was accompanied by Syeda Rizwana Hasan, another adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources. He said that the government will take preventive measures so that people do not face disaster due to irregularities and delays in the work of the haor crop protection dam. Earlier, the two visited different areas of Matian Haor in Tahirpur.
