Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus-led interim government has added three more advisers when businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin, film director Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui and special assistant to the chief adviser Mahfuj Alam took oath on Sunday evening.

They took oath at Bangabhaban at around 7:30 pm on Sunday (November 10). President Md. Shahabuddin administered their oath.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser to the interim government, was present at the time.

Seikh Bashir Uddin is the managing director of Akij Group, one of the country's largest business organizations. He is the son of Sheikh Akij Uddin.

Internationally renowned filmmaker Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui has always criticized the wrongdoings of the previous government. Not only that, he was by the side of the student movement from the very beginning. Even after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, he gave various suggestions on his Facebook page. As a result, rumors of his becoming an advisor were being heard for quite some time. Finally, those rumors came true.

Md. Mahfuz Alam was the coordinator of the Liaison Committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. His home is in Isapur village of Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur upazila. He studied at Dhaka University. He is a student of the 2015-16 academic year of the Law Department of Dhaka University. He is also known on campus as the theoretical leader of the student organization Ganatantrik Chattra Shakti.

After the student-public uprising, an interim government was formed on August 8 led by Nobel laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The 21-member Advisory Council has already been in office for three months. Many of them are fulfilling the responsibilities of multiple important ministries. Politicians often complain that one person is simultaneously fulfilling the responsibilities of several ministries, which is causing delays in the government's work. Therefore, they have also demanded to expand the scope of the Advisory Council.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus-led interim government's advisory council is being expanded. The names of the four new advisers have been announced. They are Professor Md. Sayedur Rahman, businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin, cultural figure Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui and special assistant to the chief adviser Mahfuz Alam.

The new advisers are scheduled to be sworn in at Bangabhaban on Sunday (November 10) evening. It has been confirmed that these four people have been invited to take oath as new advisers.

Professor Md. Sayedur Rahman was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on August 27. Now he is being taken to the advisory council. Md. Sayedur Rahman is a professor in the Department of Pharmacology at BSMMU.

A source said that former Inspector General of Police Khoda Box Chowdhury is joining the interim government as an special assistant to the chief adviser.

Labor Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that workers cannot be laid off by violating the law, and said that the labor law will be amended before next March.

He said that maternity leave for female workers will be extended to 120 days. Day care centers must be available in all factories.

The labor adviser said this at a press conference at the Labor Ministry at the Secretariat on Sunday (November 10) afternoon.

Stating that it is not the government's job to pay the arrears of workers, Adviser Asif said that if the government pays the arrears of workers, the country's revenue will be empty. He said that the employers who do not pay the workers' salaries are being caught and their national identity cards and passports are being withheld so that they do not flee abroad.

He said, we are not solving the problem by killing workers like before, but are helping the employers to pay their salaries. However, an immediate solution is a complex matter.

Noting that Bangladesh had to face humiliation at the previous International Labor Organization (ILO) meeting, he said that Bangladesh's position at the ILO this time was positive and commendable. Several countries have supported Bangladesh in withdrawing the case filed by the ILO. 

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that the Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League involved in the genocide in Bangladesh after August 5 have no right to come out in public until the trial is confirmed.

He made this comment at a rally in Gulistan on Sunday (November 10) afternoon.

Hasnat Abdullah said, you will shout in Hindustan and clash in Gulistan. The students of Bangladesh will not give you that opportunity after August 5. The decision on whether fascism is relevant or not in Bangladesh after August 24 has been finalized on August 5.

He said, you know that the Awami League is more brutal than the Nazi forces. If the Awami League has to be tried, then we have seen the atrocities of the Awami League from Logi Baitha to the Peelkhana massacre, at Shapla Chattar. We have seen the atrocities of the Awami League on the Alem community. Every anti-fascist political party, including BNP and Jamaat, has had to go through 16 years of disappearances, murders, and torture.
