Rabab Fatima presents credentials to UN Secretary General
Dhaka: Newly appointed Bangladesh permanent representative to UN Rabab Fatima presented her credentials to UN secretary general Antonio Guetress.
She presented her credentials on Friday (Dec.6) at the UN headquarter in New York. Earlier ambassador Fatima took over charge on last November 29.
Bangladesh became the member of UN in 1974 under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Rabab Fatima is the10th permanent representative of the country to UN. Before joining this position she was ambassador to Japan.
While presenting credentials she reached the goodwill messages of the country’s President and Prime Minister. Guetress also mentioned Bangladesh as the friend of UN and he praised the enormous socio – economic development under Sheikh Hasina.
Rabab on behalf of the government extended invitation to Anatonio Guetress in the birth centenary function of Bangabandhu on March 17 of 2020 in Dhaka and mentioned that it will be observed globally. Rabab sought the cooperation of UN secretary general in this regard. UNESCO has already announced their program to observe it globally as well as at UN headquarter, she mentioned.
