BNP to announce 'final program' from today's rally
The second phase of the program of the BNP and like-minded parties is coming to an end today on Wednesday with a one-point demand of the resignation of the ruling Awami League government. BNP will present the final program for the resignation of the government from today's Nayapaltan rally in the capital.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be present as the chief guest in this rally organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North and South BNP in front of the BNP central office at Nayapaltan at 2 o'clock.
Meanwhile, the police have taken adequate security measures around the BNP rally. Arrests are going on. BNP said that the flow of people in public gatherings cannot be stopped by arresting them.
After Durga Puja, BNP wants to announce the program of the final anti-government movement by holding a public meeting in Dhaka. At this stage, the party is also thinking about a series of march-‘gherao’, positioning and blockade programs of important buildings. Information about the plan has been obtained by talking to several senior leaders of the BNP.
According to the reliable sources of BNP, the main aim of the new program that will be started will be to prevent the announcement of the schedule of National Parliament elections.
Sources related to the law and order forces said that instructions have been given from the top level of the police to the field level so that the public gathering of BNP should not be obstructed. Besides, concerned policemen have been asked to be on maximum alert to avoid any kind of vandalism.
Sources also said that DMP cameramen will be active around the rally. If something unpleasant happens somewhere, the cameramen will take pictures as well as video. Policemen will keep a close eye on the public gathering from high buildings. The Police Commissioner will monitor the rally from the IGP and DMP stationed at the police headquarters. In case of any kind of disturbance, they will immediately order necessary action.
On the other hand, Awami League has called for a peace rally in the capital at the same time today. Dhaka Metropolitan South and North Awami League organized a peace and development rally on the occasion of the 60th birthday of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Russell Day. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will be the chief guest in this rally in front of the south gate of Baitul Mokarram in the capital at 3 pm. The rally will be presided over by Abu Ahmed Mannafi, President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League.
