BNP-Jamaat blockade, Awami League on guard
The three-day all-out blockade program called by BNP-Jamaat has started. Meanwhile, the ruling party Awami League will be on guard at the police station, ward and unit level to prevent any kind of sabotage around the siege.
General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader said, Awami League will be on guard against BNP's blockade. BNP will be suppressed politically and administratively if there is any kind of arson and destructive activities.
It is known that Awami League leaders and activists will be on guard for 72 hours at police stations, wards, units, neighborhoods, alleys and important points across the country including the capital Dhaka to prevent any arson in the name of BNP-Jamaat blockade program. In this, the affiliated organizations of the party Awami Jubo League, Swachhasebak League, Sramik League, Jubo Mahila League, Mahila Awami League, Matsyajeevi League and fraternal organization Chhatra League will guard with sticks. The party leaders and workers will sit for 72 hours in front of the central office of Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan of the capital from Tuesday morning.
The party claimed that no vandalism will be allowed anywhere in the capital like October 28. Where there is violence there is resistance. No more concessions will be given to them.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said in a virtual press conference on Monday (October 30) that a total blockade program will be held across the country on Tuesday, October 31 and November 1 and 2 in order to achieve one-point demand for the fall of the government.
BNP plans to isolate the capital Dhaka in the final phase of the one-phase movement to bring down the government. For this reason, they have announced a three-day total blockade program on roads, railways and waterways across the country. Leaders and activists at divisional city, district and upazila levels have been instructed to make this blockade program successful.
According to the sources, discussions are going on between the BNP and its like-minded parties regarding the 'Dhaka Gherao' program according to the time and situation. However, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has also called for a three-day blockade across the country, despite not being an openly like-minded party with BNP.
Meanwhile, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) entered the field at night to protect the lives and property of the common people and protect the state assets based on the three-day nationwide blockade program given by BNP-Jamaat.
BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said that BGB is patrolling important highways in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka. BGB will be deployed across the country to control the law and order situation. Required number of BGB platoons will work for the sake of security.
In this regard, Assistant Director of BGB Headquarters, Sheikh Mohammad Imran Ali, said that our patrol activities will continue to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the common people of Dhaka city and to keep traffic normal.
