Holding of JS election will not be allowed: Rizvi
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has played a joke with the nation by announcing the election schedule. His language mirrors that of the Prime Minister. Though the schedule is announced, the election will not take place, it will not be allowed to take place.
He said these things in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (November 15) evening.
Rizvi said that the commission has made a big joke with the nation by announcing the schedule of selection polls and said that the government is planning to hold one-party elections again. And EC is his place of trust. The current election commission is a subservient selection of the government elected in the late night vote. The main objective of this commission is to bring the Awami League government back to power.
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal announced the schedule of 12th JS elections on Wednesday evening. Voting will be held on January 7, 2024.
CEC said that the deadline for filing nomination papers for the parliamentary elections is 30th November. Scrutiny of nomination papers from 1st to 4th December. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 17. Allotment of symbols will be on 18th December.
