The conflict that hangs over the Rowshan-Quader agreement!
GM Quader is adamant not to nominate Rowshan's followers, and Rowshan Ershad is unwilling to leave her followers alone to go to the polls. Along with this, the conflict between ‘Debar-Bhabi’ (GM Quader-Rowshan Ershad) has become evident over the Rangpur-3 seat of Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad.
If necessary, Rowshan Ershad said that she will stay out of the election, but she will not leave her followers. Even GM Quader is thinking of not participating in the election under her signature, said his close friends.
Rowshan Ershad held a closed-door meeting with senior leaders on Saturday (November 25) afternoon.
Several senior leaders present at the meeting confirmed this information to Barta24.com on condition of anonymity. Opposition chief whip Moshiur Rahman Ranga, former ambassador and Rowshan Ershad's political secretary Golam Masih, Professor Delwar Hossain Khan, Kazi Mamunur Rashid and many others attended that meeting.
Leaders who participated in the meeting told Barta24.com that Rowshan Ershad was very angry with the behavior of ‘Debar’ GM Quader. There was already tension, the distance increased as the Saad pulled on the seat. Rowshan Ershad, who is known as the Prime Minister's confidant, has started to think again. She is trying to meet with the Prime Minister and then wants to take the next decision. After the death of Hussain Muhammad Ershad, her son Saad Ershad was elected as a Member of Parliament from Rangpur-3 (Sadar) seat in the by-election. On November 20, nomination papers for Rangpur-3 seat were collected on behalf of GM Quader. And Rowshan Ershad is very good at it. GM Quader has been elected from Lalmonirhat seat in the last few parliaments.
His close friends said that Rowshan's position was different even a few days ago. Her followers suggested selling nomination papers differently but she did not agree to it. Then she said, everyone should have a party. The party should not be divided.
The Jatiya Party distributed party forms to the candidates from November 20 to 24. Although distribution of nomination papers was over, none of Rowshan Ershad's followers including her son Saad Ershad picked up the nomination papers of the party. However, GM Quader had already announced the decision not to give nomination papers to Rowshan's followers. Even when the daughter of Opposition Chief Whip Mashiur Rahman Ranga, who is known as a pro-Rowshan, came to meet the GM, he did not even show courtesy.
On Saturday (November 25), Secretary General of Jatiya Party Mujibul Haque Chunnu told reporters that our honorable patron Begum Rowshan Ershad called me personally yesterday. She and her son Saad Ershad and Dr. KR Islam sought three nomination papers. If her (Begum Rowshan Ershad) people come today, we will give the nomination papers. Begum Rowshan Ershad said, we will send her nomination paper. If necessary, I will go and deliver it myself. I think maybe send people for nominations. Time is not an issue for him. It will be given when you want it.
The Secretary General of the party has been giving such statements for a few days. On the evening of November 24, Rowshan went to Ershad's house and met him. Still there is no change in the scenario.
The’ Debar-Bhabi’ cold war is visible since the death of Hussain Muhammad Ershad. When Ershad died on July 14, 2019, conflict over the leadership of the party started between ‘Debar and Bhabi’. After Ershad's death, the post of opposition leader of the JS became vacant and the tension started. GM Quader and Rowshan Ershad sent letters to the Speaker. Finally, the Speaker evaluated Rowshan's letter.
Rowshan Ershad suddenly convened a one-sided Jatiya Party Council on August 31, 2022 amid the cold war. A preparatory committee was formed with the date of the party council on November 26. In response, GM Quader's supporters also fell on the field. Within a day, Rowshan wrote to the Speaker to remove Ershad from the post of Leader of the Opposition in the JS. However, in the end, no effect was seen in that letter. GM Quader expelled some leaders including Moshiur Rahman Ranga, who is known as pro-Rowshan . GM Quader wrote a letter to remove Mashiur Rahman Ranga from the post of opposition chief whip. This time also Rowshan Ershad opposed it.
Former ambassador Golam Masih was made the member secretary of Rowshan declared conference preparation committee. The Golam Masih Committee was preparing for the Council with great difficulty. Preparatory Committees formed in 45 districts. Senior and deposed leaders of Jatiya Party who are inactive due to various reasons get a place in it. The party's activities are carried out with a separate office at Road No. 47 in Gulshan. That office still exists.
GM Quader gave an ultimatum to boycott the parliament at a time when the two sides were facing each other. Suddenly both sides broke into a tussle. GM Quader backs down from boycott threat. After 2 months, on October 30, Rowshan suddenly announced the temporary suspension of the council.
When Rowshan Ershad returned home after a long treatment, ‘Debar-Bhabi’ appeared at the Prime Minister's call. After that meeting the ice began to melt. Rowshan Ershad was the chief guest at the Jatiya Party's foundation anniversary ceremony on January 1. After that, Rowshan supporters relaxed a bit.
But the difference between them increased on the question of election. GM Quader was very much against elections, and Rowshan Ershad although was election oriented. Rowshan had announced her participation in the election earlier. And on November 22, GM Quader announced to go to the election under a lot of compulsion. It is said that both the parties have separately prepared the list of Jatiya Party candidates for the election.
On November 18, GM Quader and Rowshan Ershad submitted separate letters to the Election Commission. In his letter, Rowshan mentioned the formation of a grand coalition and the election on boat or plough symbol. On the other hand assign the plough symbol to the GM himself, for this, he sent the specimen of his own signature.
