Awami League will not give symbols in upazila elections
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that Awami League will not give symbols in upazila elections.
He said this to reporters after the emergency meeting of the Awami League Executive Committee with the Prime Minister at Gonobhaban on Monday (January 22) night.
He said that in the upcoming upazila elections, there has been a discussion about whether to give the party symbol to the candidates, whether to give candidature or not.
Obaidul Quader said he expressed the same opinion about not using party symbols in upazila elections. Our president Sheikh Hasina said, I do not disagree with everyone's opinion. But later the Parliamentary Board will sit and then the final decision will be announced.
Obaidul Quader said that there was a discussion about whether we will contest the party's symbol in the upazila elections. The working committee is of almost unanimous opinion that our party symbol should not be used in the upazila elections. Presenting opinion in the working committee meeting for not giving boat. He said that the final decision will be announced in the next Local Government Nomination Board. For now it is the decision of the working committee. The Nomination Board upholds the decision of the Working Committee. Formalities of the Nomination Board are pending. He does not want to say anything more about the matter before that formality.
The Awami League General Secretary said that in order to eliminate the taint that still remains among the leaders and activists of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections, the eight divisional committees of our party should be summoned to Dhaka to talk about solving it.
Obaidul Quader said that after announcing the schedule, a decision will be taken in the parliamentary nomination board meeting of the party.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that the global situation and Bangladesh situation were also discussed in the meeting.
