If the daily misery of the people is ignored under the guise of reform programs, the people themselves may be forced to open their mouths with their demands for reforms, said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
He said these things as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the founding anniversary of Chhatra Dal at the Engineer Institute in the capital on Wednesday (January 1) afternoon.
Tarique Rahman said that after the escape of the mafia boss (Sheikh Hasina), every political party has the goal of making the people's desired humane country without discrimination. To implement this goal, political parties will present their party ideology and programs to the people. They will try to gain the support of the people. This is the democratic principle the natural and self-evident rule of the democratic world.
In such a situation, the question of reform or election from some quarters is considered by BNP, all patriotic people, and all political parties of the country to be just a malicious argument motivated by malicious intentions. Rather, our party BNP believes that both reforms and elections are necessary for qualitative changes in the state, politics and political parties. Reforms are an inevitable process to make the existing system timely. Similarly, elections are the most important and desirable way to give a sustainable and institutional form to the democratic system, he said.
It is through elections that the people of the country get the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, which ensures the political power of the state and the people.
He said, BNP believes that unless the political and economic power of the people of the state is ensured, no human rights, democracy or institutional reforms are sustainable. The interim government has undertaken reform programs in several important areas. Reforms are definitely necessary. This is perhaps why the interim government has undertaken major reform programs in their view. However, if the daily misery of the people is ignored behind these programs, the people may be forced to open their mouths with demands for reforms from the government itself.
Already, the question has arisen in the minds of the people: what measures has the government taken to break the market syndicate created during the decadent dictatorship and bring the prices of goods within the purchasing power of the people? Why do people still unnecessarily have to walk on the court balconies in millions of cases filed during the fascist era? In the current situation in the country, the BNP wants to emphasize the point again and again, that is, if the interim government shows a failure to prioritize their reforms or the changes they have adopted, the conspirators will take the opportunity to destroy the spirit of the 2024 mass uprising. In the meantime, they have made several attempts to create an unstable environment in the country.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Asaduzzaman Ripon, Chairperson's Adviser Aman Ullah Aman, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Executive Committee Member Nazimuddin Alam, former Chhatra Dal President Kazi Rawnkul Islam, former Chhatra Dal General Secretary Habibur Rashid Habib, among others, also spoke at the event.
