Many Awami League leaders were not seen in the field during the violence surrounding the quota reform movement. Allegedly, the proposed committee of Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League which has been submitted to the center contains many controversial names. Allegations of post-trading are also coming to light. In this, the reluctance of the leaders and activists to enter the field appeared.

It is known that Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League conference was held on November 30, 2019. After almost 5 years passed, the responsible leaders of the two committees of the metropolis failed to provide Thana and ward committee. Later two members of the presidium were given the task of supervision but they also failed.

After that, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader fixed the time to finalize the Thana and ward committee by March 20, 2023. As the work of the committee was not completed even within the stipulated time, the time was extended till May 31 this year.

Finally, on June 4 Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and General Secretary SM Mannan Kochi submitted 26 Thana and 64 Wards and on June 16 Metropolitan South President Abu Ahmed Mannafi and General Secretary Humayun Kabir submitted 24 Thana and 75 Ward committees to General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader.

Mannafi and Humayun submitted separate committees for Khilgaon, Sabujbagh and Mugda Thana under Dhaka-9 constituency. These committees were sent to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for final approval.

Not being able to provide any new committee for a long time, and the names of the members of the proposed committee being made public, there has been a mixed reaction in the party. Many feel that they have not been given the appreciation they deserve. During the agitation, many did not come out of the anger that the names of controversial people have been proposed in the proposed committee through post-trade.

Talking to various levels of leaders and activists in the metropolis, responses were obtained. At that time, the leaders and activists complained that those of us who have been working for the party for a long time, are happy and sad for the party, they did not get a place in the committee, but the leaders of BNP-Jamaat are becoming leaders with money, hybrids are coming and becoming leaders; So where is our assessment of the party?

Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Office Secretary Riaz Uddin Riaz gave a status on the social media Facebook. He wrote in the status accusing the responsible leaders as the reason for the failure of the quota reform movement, who have been given organizational responsibility, who have become MP candidates for the area to help form the committee. Due to which the activists have become three-way. Many BNP- Jamaat people have been placed in the unit committees; proper investigation will get them out.

Also, more than hundreds of letters have been deposited in the office of Awami League, alleging that BNP-Jamaat leaders were included in the committee, along with post-trading, devaluing the dedicated. About 20 of these letters are in the hands of Barta24.com which can be verified by analysis. At the same time, in Uttara, Rampura, Jatrabari areas of Dhaka, where the quota reform activists have been active, about a month ago, the leaders and activists who felt they were undervalued had sent a letter to the office about such complaints about the committee.

In one such letter obtained by Barta24.com, it can be seen that Ward No. 48 (Syedabad-Jatrabari) president Giyas Uddin Gesu, in a letter written to the President and General Secretary of the party, proposed names as the president and general secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League in exchange for huge sums of money.

In the letter, Giyas Uddin complained that South General Secretary Humayun Kabir had taken Tk. 20 lakh. But in exchange for more money, he broke the promise and proposed someone else's name. In the letter, he asked for the evaluation of his sacrifice and refund of Tk. 20 lakh.

Ramna police station and Ward No. 19 Awami League leader Safiqul Islam submitted a letter to the Awami League President's office on June 29, alleging that drug dealers including those accused of murder, docaties and robberies have been included in the proposed committee. In the letter, Safiqul Islam alleged that there is a case of car theft against Shahid Matbar, the proposed president of Ward No. 19. On the other hand, he complained against the proposed general secretary Nurul Basar and said that although he was not in any committee before, he proposed his name in exchange for a huge amount of money.

Also, similar complaints were made in letters sent to the President's office from various areas including Kotwali, Uttarkhan, Turag, Dakshinkhan, Uttara. In most of these letters, the present leaders complained of undervaluation. On the other hand, he also complained that the names of controversial people have been proposed in the proposed committee in exchange for money.

Dhaka Metropolitan North Thana and Ward have not had a committee for a long time and the name of the proposed committee has been published, controversial people have been included there without evaluating the quitters and due to the allegations of post-trading, the quitter leaders and activists have not taken the field in the quota reform movement to inquire from Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, the president of the Metropolitan North Awami League. He said to Barta24.com, I will not comment on this matter.

Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League President Abu Ahmed Mannafi was called several times to inquire about this but he did not receive.
