The government's aim is to ban all parties and survive as a single party. The students wanted to discuss the quota reform but the government showed arrogance like irresponsible landlords.. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that this government is trying to create a reign of terror by intimidating the people of the country.

He said these things in a press conference at Gulshan office of BNP on Tuesday (July 30).

The secretary general said that he has not seen such an incident in politics after strongly condemning and protesting the police attack on the peaceful movement of the students and immediately releasing the arrested students. The entire nation has been made a mockery of students' deaths. Government has no representation. An invisible force is running this country. Actually there is no such thing as Awami League government. Invisible forces are running the country in an apolitical manner.

Mirza Fakhrul said regarding the law and order forces, the law and order forces should work according to the rules of the republic and not for any party. The members of the law and order forces are obstructing the meeting on the words of some leaders.

The General Secretary said that BNP Jamaat is being blamed from the beginning of the movement. And if they knew so much beforehand, why didn't they stop it in the first place. Did you want people to die like this?

Thanking the new generation, he said that the BNP is on the side of the students. No one could stop the movement of the people of Bangladesh. Now there is no representative of the people. Government is not accountable. Patriotic people took to the streets. Dhaka University teachers, cultural personalities are coming forward. Everyone wants the government to fall.

Awami League is the biggest sponsor of militancy in this country. The United Nations should investigate and intervene in this murder. Many children have died indiscriminately in police firing, inhumane torture is being done in remand. These merciless repressions must be stopped immediately.

He demanded immediate withdrawal of curfew, withdrawal of army to barracks, withdrawal of ban on public gatherings, opening of politics and unconditional release of arrested activists and students.
