The torture increases more, the resistance will be stronger: Mirza Fakhrul
Urging the government to resign, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, resign as soon as possible and return the power of the people to the people. The more the torture increases, the stronger the resistance will be.
He made this call in a statement sent to the media on Thursday (01 August). The Secretary General of BNP made this statement strongly condemning and protesting the obstruction, firing, suppression, oppression, arrest, torture of the students' movement.
Calling the government's allegation of killings by the third force in the quota reform movement a 'lie', the Secretary General of BNP said that people all over the world have seen that the general public including students did not have firearms. It was in the hands of the law and order forces and the Chhatra League, Jubo League, the organ of the government party. Even after that, the government continues to sing this chorus of lies to cover the fish with vegetables.
In the statement, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'The government and the government forces are so immersed in lies that the people of the whole world have seen that Abu Sayed was shot dead by the police directly in front of him. In that case, the Rangpur Police Lines School and College's eleventh grader student Alif Shahriar to Mahim has been arrested and sent to jail. This barbaric illegitimate government will never accept the advice of civilized people because they are planning to stay in power anyway by carrying out genocide and establishing a barbaric regime to maintain their illegal power.
In the statement, the BNP Secretary General urged the people of all classes and professions to continue the movement, including students and youth. He said, "Demands for the resignation of the murderous government are being voiced in every corner of the country." The government that killed democracy, robs people's rights, endangers national interests and sovereignty has carried out genocide and brutal repression unprecedented in the history of independent Bangladesh. This government today has become a presidential-assassination government. Dismissing the democratic government and creating a political environment to solve all the problems of the nation. This ruling group will not be able to remain in power in the face of student protests.
Fakhrul also called upon the administration officials and employees, including the law and order forces, to ignore the government's orders, directives and pressure to refrain from suppressing and oppressing the students. He said that the government is pitting the law and order forces and the administration against the student mob in a well-planned manner, which is an ominous sign for the state. At this critical juncture of the country, the nation, all patriotic students, political parties, cultural institutions, organizations and individuals should unite and stand against this democracy-destroying, looting, illegal power-grabbing, murderous ruling group by holding the spirit of the liberation war. The goal of establishing a people's government through an impartial election should be advanced.
He also said that the government has become so scared and divided by the student’s movement that they themselves are saying that the people and ordinary students will take over public buildings like in Sri Lanka. Because of that fear, they continue to try to protect themselves by abusing the law and order forces and all the constitutional institutions of the state.
