BNP to hold rally on Wednesday at Naya Paltan
Dhaka: The BNP has called a rally at Nayapaltan in the capital in the wake of the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This information was released in a statement that this rally will be held in front of the central office of BNP at Nayapaltan on Wednesday (August 7) at 2 o'clock.
Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman will address the gathering as the chief guest. Besides, national leaders including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will also address the rally.
In the rally, people from all walks of life including BNP and its affiliated organizations at all levels have been called to attend the rally on time.
Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been released by the executive order after Sheikh Hasina fled to India resigning in the face of protests after 15 and a half years in power. This information was informed in a press release of Bangabhavan on Tuesday.
It is said in the notice, Khaleda Zia has been released by President Sahabuddin in view of the decision of the meeting of three army chiefs, leaders of various political parties, representatives of civil society and leaders of anti-discrimination student movement.
Khaleda Zia was jailed in two corruption cases. She was imprisoned for more than two years. On March 25, 2020, the government suspended her sentence and granted her conditional release in an executive order. After that, the government extended the period of her release by suspending his sentence in view of her appeals for six months.
