Jamaat is working for the safety of other religious beliefs: Shahjahan Chowdhury
Ameer of Chattogram City Jamaat, former MP and former whip of the parliamentary party Alhaj Shahjahan Chowdhury said that Jamaat-e-Islami has formed volunteer teams at the police station and ward levels to ensure the security of people's lives and property of other religious beliefs and is working area-wise.
He said these things in a press conference called on the current political situation of the country at the BIA office of the Nagar Jamaat near Didar Market of the city's Kotwali police station on Wednesday (August 7) around 2 pm.
Shahjahan Chowdhury, Shura member of Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Majlis, has been a victim of extreme oppression, torture, terrorism, anarchy and deprivation of Awami dictatorship for 18 years. Alhamdulillah, this dictatorship was overthrown in the face of the united movement of the students. Countless students had to give their lives to achieve this victory. At the same time, people from all walks of life, including women, children and workers, have to give their lives. I am thanking Almighty Allah for this victory achieved at the cost of countless people's lives, which is unprecedented in the history of the world. Congratulations to the countrymen and Chattogram city residents for this. 4 journalists, 14 policemen were also killed in this movement. We wish the souls of all the martyrs who died in this movement to rest in peace. At the same time, I express my condolences to the thousands of eye lost, crippled and injured and wish them a speedy recovery.
He also said, on behalf of the Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat, I am making a humble request to the people of all walks of life to maintain the achievement of this great victory achieved in exchange of the blood of numerous martyrs. The ghosts of the fallen autocracy are still deep in conspiracy to dispute this victory. In such a situation, we all have to play a united role to restore a fair environment in the country, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety of lives and property of the people of other religious beleifs.
Jamaat leader Shahjahan Chowdhury also said that on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami Chattogram city, we are already trying to provide full cooperation to the administration and the city residents. Jamaat-e-Islami is playing an area-based role by forming volunteer teams at police station and ward levels to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and to protect law and order. We observe that a vested interest in the city is attacking public and private establishments and individuals. It is not supportable in any way. I appeal to the relevant authorities to identify those who are doing this heinous act and bring them under the law.
City Jamaat Ameer said, along with the people of all religions, he appealed to the administration and city residents to ensure security in various places of worship including temples. In the ongoing situation of the country, I am calling on all Jamaat leaders and workers, students and teachers, parents and all political parties and people of all levels to play a strong role. I specially request everyone including journalist friends to keep a watchful and careful eye so that miscreants do not under any circumstances create an undesirable situation and destroy the victory of the students. I strongly demand the local administration to normalize the law and order situation. I am grateful to the journalist friends present at the press conference.
