The Awami League leader who spoke with Sheikh Hasina on the phone was arrested
Barguna district general secretary of Awami League talking on the phone that went viral, with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Jahangir Kabir has been arrested by the police.
He was arrested early on Wednesday (August 14) from his home in Amtalapar area of Barguna town. After escaping, he was arrested on charges of creating chaos and conspiracy by talking to Sheikh Hasina on the phone.
Md. Jahangir Kabir is the Barguna Zilla Parishad Chairman and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry President.
Barguna Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Mizanur Rahman confirmed this information.
He said that a police team came from Dhaka and arrested Jahangir Kabir.
Earlier, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called Jahangir Kabir on the night of August 12. Besides giving several party instructions to Jahangir, she instructed to observe the mourning day on August 15 with due dignity. At this time, Jahangir Kabir requested Sheikh Hasina to trust the party leaders and workers. He even said to be in the field with all the programs to bring him back to the country. After Sheikh Hasina left the country, Jahangir Kabir suddenly came to the discussion for the phone call.
