No one will indulge in occupation: Tariq Rahman
Acting Chairman of BNP, Tariq Rahman, urged not to fall into the trap of the defeated evil forces and said that if the students' uprising is to be a final success, no one should engage in occupation or assist in occupation. No one should attack the weak. No one will take the law into their own hands. Revenge is not revenge, let us show responsibility to ensure effective state reforms.
He said these things in a video message from London on Tuesday (August 20).
Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman has alleged that a well-planned conspiracy is going on to defeat the success and purpose of the historic popular uprising. He said, as part of this conspiracy, a planned attack on a religious community was planned to destabilize the country. However, the pro-Hasina movement and the timely action of the interim government have failed to de-escalate the situation. The conspiracies of the defeated evil forces have not stopped yet. In such a situation, the main priority of the moment is to consolidate the spirit and purpose of the historic mass uprising of the students.
The Acting Chairman said that in order to consolidate the spirit and goal of the coup, it is necessary to ensure the political and economic empowerment of the people in addition to bringing the ousted anti-mass forces to face the law. The main tool of political empowerment of the people is to ensure the right of every citizen to exercise their vote.
He said that the escape of the murderer Hasina has paved the way for the end of 15 years of fascist rule. So, now is the time to establish accountable democracy in the country. The oppressed and disenfranchised people are looking forward to a free, safe and dignified life. Now is the time to build a safe and humane Bangladesh to fulfill the people's expectations. For the last 15 years, the pro-democracy movement has continued to fight for the establishment of democracy, human rights and voting rights in the country by ending the fascist regime. Many people have gone missing, murdered and kidnapped during the agitation. Many are permanently crippled. In the continuation of the struggle, Hasina, who committed genocide in the historic mass uprising of the students, fled the country.
He said, the change of power does not mean only the change of state power. A change in power means a qualitative change in the state and politics. The desired qualitative change in the state and politics is not possible unless the political and economic empowerment of the people is ensured. To ensure the participation of the people in the desired state reforms, to sustain the democratic rule system, it is necessary to establish a government accountable to the people by the people's vote.
The top leader of BNP commented that the interim government has already taken various initiatives to provide necessary assistance by making a list of those who were injured in the coup. He said, those who were injured in the mass uprising. If their family members are given a state reception, the families of the victims may get some peace of mind, even for a while. This kind of initiative will further calm the spirit of coup. He proposed to observe 5th August every year as a special day of national life in Sambar under the initiative of the state.
Tariq Rahman said that in 2018, students were victims of state fraud in the quota reform movement across the country. Genocide Hasina brutally suppressed the agitators. Even tyrant Hasina did not even give treatment to the injured at that time. So, I think it is necessary to take into account how the state can help the quota reform activists who were killed in 2018 even if it belatedly. I believe the power of youth ignores the aspirations of youth/never a state and government can achieve the desired goals.
He said, raise the question as to why the Sagar-Rooney murder case investigation has not been completed even within a century. People want to see the investigative report on 'mirror' from you. Hasina turned the country into a looter state, people want to see those images of corruption in the newspapers every day. If Hasina's misdeeds are framed in the media, no one else will dare to indulge in vote-robbery genocide like Hasina in the future, which will strengthen the foundations of democracy and force the rulers to refrain from autocratic behavior, said Tariq Rahman.
Calling on the well-wishers of BNP and its affiliates and affiliated organizations at all levels across the country, the Acting Chairman of BNP said that the interim government will announce the date of the national elections on time along the path of state reform. A group of brave faces among the expatriate participated in the mass movement by highlighting the history of Hasina's misrule in front of the people from the abroad and called upon the expatriate to continue their role from their respective positions as much as possible in accordance with the laws of the respective countries in the future as in the past.
