We will give logical time until the elections are arranged: Mirza Fakhrul
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that we will give time to the present government until they can organize the elections logically.
He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the education gathering on the occasion of the World Teachers' Day organized by the National Teachers-Workers Union at Engineer Institute Bangladesh on Saturday (October 5) at noon
He said, "We are giving them time, we will give them time." We will give time until they can organize elections rationally.
Mirza Fakhrul said, we have been protesting for 15/16 years, we have given our lives, we have given our lives for one reason, we want to establish people's right to vote, we want to establish democracy. We do not believe in any depoliticized politics. We don't want to see 'minus two' again.
We don't want to see radicalism, militancy, terrorism again. We really want to see a fair, liberal, democratic system in the country. That is why we gave them power, because we thought they were worthy people. He also urged them to work quickly.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the ghosts of Awami League who tortured people and looted them are still in the administration. They must be eliminated. Otherwise, nothing can be done.
Recalling BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's announcement on job nationalization, BNP Secretary General said, Madam's announcement is a landmark for all of us. You have to come to the government. When will the government come? If the people vote us to power. You will be voted only when you prove to the public that you are eligible to vote. In the next 5 years, they will perform their duties properly and work.
Pointing out that there are various kinds of criticism in newspapers and magazines, he said, we have to work so that this criticism does not happen. Those who commit corruption, extortion, grab land are not BNP people, they are miscreants. Tariq Rahman Sahib (Acting Chairman of BNP) has taken action against some people from our party as well.
Mentioning that teachers should not be party members, he said that teachers should stay away from party politics. I know you will not like this, because Awami League has started from a peon to the chairman of the governing body. It has to be brought out from there. If you can do that then it will change and not happen.
