'No voting with money: school teachers can also do election'
BNP Standing Committee member Major (retd) M Hafiz Uddin Ahmed BB said that no one can influence the vote by giving money in the election. National Parliament has become a club of millionaires. A school teacher can also choose.
He said these things at a discussion meeting titled 'Public Aspirations in Public Crisis: Proposals for State Repair' organized by Bangladesh Labor Party at Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of National Press Club on Tuesday (October 15).
Major (Retd.) M Hafiz Uddin Ahmed BB said, this government was formed by public opinion, by the will of the people. But as time goes by we are slowly getting frustrated. Professor Yunus is the country's accomplished child and is known all over the world. He is the face of Bangladesh abroad; we could not have found a more qualified person than him at the moment. He doesn't even want to be in power, he was offered it before, didn't stay. He still doesn't seem to be enjoying himself very much. But I have to say one thing that his team selection is not right. Many of those he took with him wanted to stay in power for life. You may not be able to express it, but it seems so in your attitude.
Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, asking how much time it would take for the reforms, said that it took more than 6 days to notify the six commissions which should not have taken more than two days. Slowly common people are getting frustrated. Fallen evil power wants to come back. Such a weak government wants to cue even the Ansar forces.
Criticizing the government, he said, Professor Yunus has assigned four to five ministries to each adviser. Especially they have no experience. He has to think about this. He appointed the good ones from among the non-political people. If necessary, these students recruit more people than those who did the anti-discrimination movement. But we don't want to see them in the cabinet that have played in the Awami League party in the past.
Pointing out that the main task of the interim government is to transfer power to an elected government, he said that the government talks a lot but one thing is not heard from their mouths that when the elections will be held. When will the election commission be formed? Election Commission should be formed with non-political and knowledgeable people. If the law needs to be changed through an ordinance, it can be done quickly.
He said, we have always said that elections should be held within a reasonable time. I personally think one year is enough time to hold elections.
He also said that we will see another thing about the August revolution, that the government that will come to power in the future will have the July-August revolution in mind. They want to loot like before, they don't dare. Be it BNP or Jamaat, the experience of the movement will be in everyone's mind.
In the meeting, the Chairman of Bangladesh Labor Party Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran. Apart from this, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, General Secretary of Public Forum, Albert P. Costa, President of Bangladesh Christian Association, Janipop Chairman Prof. Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and others were also present.
